چکیده

A generic analytical performance model of singlechannel wormhole routers is presented using the M/D/1/B queuing theory. Compared with previous work, the flowcontrol feedback mechanism is studied in detail, and a computing method bases on Markov chain for the flowcontrol feedback probability is proposed. Compared with BookSim, a well-known cycle-accurate Network-on-Chip (NoC) simulator, this model presents accurate results on key metrics: the average relative error of flow-control feedback probability is about 7.87%. In addition, based on the model of single-channel routers, the asymmetric multi-channel and symmetric multi-channel structured routers are both modeled respectively.

Design of a Low-Latency Router Based on Virtual Output Queuing and Bypass Channels for Wireless Network-on-Chip

Wireless network-on-chip (WiNoC) is considered as a novel approach for designing future multi-core systems. In WiNoCs, wireless routers (WRs) utilize high-bandwidth wireless links to reduce the transmission delay between the long distance nodes. When the network traffic loads increase, a large number of packets will be sent into the wired and wireless links and can...

Non-Blocking Routers Design Based on West First Routing Algorithm & MZI Switches for Photonic NoC

For the first time, the 4- and 5-port optical routers are designed by using the West First routing algorithm for use in optical network on chip. The use of the WF algorithm has made the designed routers to provide non-blocking routing in photonic network on chip. These routers not only are based on high speed Mach-Zehnder switches(Which have a higher bandwidth and more thermal tolerance than mi...

Improving the Performance of a Wormhole Router and Wormhole Flow Control

As an emerging and advanced technology, Network-on-Chip (NoC) may become the alternative of the traditional bus-based System-on-Chip (SoC). In an interconnection network structure, interconnected routers are the core of the whole system and the network’s performance mainly depends on their performance. There are many significant factors which determine the working mechanism of a router and its ...

Pipelined Control-Path Effects on Area and Performance of a Wormhole-Switched Network-on-Chip

This paper presents design trade-off and performance impacts of the amount of pipeline phase of control path signals in a wormhole-switched network-on-chip (NoC). The numbers of the pipeline phase of the control path vary between twoand one-cycle pipeline phase. The control paths consist of the routing request paths for output selection and the arbitration paths for input selection. Data commun...
